In 1900, just 8% of the world lived in cities.
Today, half the world lives in urban settings and the other three
billion are being urbanized! The 21st Century brings a challenge
for Christians to pioneer our cities. We can't afford to abandon
them -- they determine the destiny of our nations!
YWAM San Francisco's Urban Missions Internship is
designed to give students a combination of classroom instruction
and hands on training that will equip them for ministry within the
urban environment. This eight-month program is broken into segments,
with periods of classroom study intermingled with ministry experiences,
both in and out of YWAM.
Electives include work with at-risk teens, homeless,
community development, and children's ministry. Students will learn
about leadership and then practice their skills while leading high
school youth who attend YWAM's Urban Mission Adventures program
or staffing our Sumer Day Camp. Other electives will be chosen based
on each intern's specific interests and desires, to give each student
valuable experience and opportunity to discover his or her long-term
calling.
May 5 through December 21, 2008
(Scheduled to be offered yearly from May to December.)
Students live and learn at our inner city Tenderloin Training and Outreach Center. The lifestyle is simple, with community meals and shared housing. Limited housing may be available for married couples.
Completion of a YWAM Discipleship Training School
$4350 ($500 deposit and $550 per month for 7 months)
(includes food, lodging, monthly bus pass, books, speaker costs)
